Abstinence »

Not using them properly. Clearly the author has an agenda and is willing to stretch the truth until it screams to support it.
What the truth is, is the author knows many (come on, how many people do you know in your lifetime that even get pregnant, let alone used birth control and failed?)... anyway "knows many" people who have TOLD her that they were using a condom or pills... fact is, who wants to look like an idiot? Of course they don't mention things like "of course, I forget to take my pill all the time." I'm pretty sure she's lying about "sometimes both," and then still getting pregnant. Puh-leeze. Time to start buying lottery tickets if you can hit those kinds of odds. Sounds like the typical crap you tell eighth graders in health class before they get old enough to say "what the hell are you talking about?"-

Oh yeah, and why is it almost always teenagers whose birth control fails, and not someone in their thirties, who realizes how important it is? I mean, this entire article is aimed directly at teenagers... how come the author isn't telling forty year old single women to abstain--surely they must get pregnant at the same rate as a fifteen year old... right? Telling kids that birth control devices don't work does nothing, teaching them responsibility does.
