The burning question is, how complete was Ledger's post-production work on the maniacal character of the Joker?

I am so looking forward to this movie, and from the trailers, it appears that Ledger has captured the most complicated and most believable Joker that has yet been played in the history of the Batman films/TV/etc.
I would be a real shame if his death came before the voice-over work was completed.
