Redact O'Reilly »
Posted by: populist 9 months agoNovember 16 saw the limited release of Brian DePalma's new film, Redacted. Right-wing gasbag Bill O'Reilly has been attacking this film, and calling for a boycott, so I knew I had to see it. Fortunately it's showing in Philly, so I planned my weekend around a matinee screening.

Who makes a film like this in a time of war? This is something that sounds like it comes from Al Quaeda as a propaganda film to help sway USA support. Thanks Libs.. Once again supporting the troops. I want to see the outrage that we saw against Rush Limbaugh. Maybe Harry Reid will have something to say but I doubt it will be bad. Harry might even nominate this DePalma guy for a Nobel Peace prize.

Since you ask I will answer. The film was made by people who respect the truth, and see nothing moral about covering up the lies that this farce of a war is based on.
It was made by Americans who respect the values that America stands for and not the values of the current regime in Washington.

Where is the formal declaration of war passed by congress. Without that there is no true war and thus we are not in a time of war.
What were are in is the military invasion and occupation of a foreign country that never attacked us. If you believe that is war you are strongly mistaken.

Yes support the troop by keeping them out of un-necessary wars. (Yes. the Iraq invasion and occupation was unnecessary and has created more terrorist for us to fight.)
And condemnation to the psuedo-clowns for needlessly putting our troops in harms way, not only by the strategically blunderous invasion of Iraq but also the bungled occupation that created the 5 years of civil war in Iraq.

The people who made this movie are scum. The people who support it, well they're just s bad.

In any large group of people there are those who are scum. This film implies ALL of our troops are scum. What is hard to understand about that.
Why do liberals tout these aberrations. When they come to light the ones involved are given severe punishment. Bringing them to light to verify they get punished is one thing, but a film like this is quite another. It just tarnishes our troops by painting them with the same brush.

Redacted? What's that? A movie? Oh yeah, I hear it really sux wang. I won't go see it. O'Reilly usually knows what he's talking about. I'd rate O'Reilly better than any top 100 nazi liberals combined. I'm sure wimps like Sean Penn and Michael Moore will get off on it. I'm sure it's rated right down there w/Gigli and Norbit. Talk about box office flops.

I wouldn't have a problem if this movie was released AFTER the troops are out of Iraq. This movie is going to be used as a recruitment tool for terroists all over the Middle East and will only put the current troops in more danger
People in Hollywood used to have common sense! The movies critical of Viet Nam were released AFTER the war
What would FDR have done if a similar movie had been released in the middle of WWII?? Look at his record. DePalma and his backers would have been rounded up and put in jail for subversion!

Actually, the factual story that this particular film was loosely based upon had a happy ending because the soldier wound up pleading guilty.
Unfortunately, momydearestc prefers name calling to fact-based arguments, but what more could you expect from someone with just barely enough intelligence to come up with the alliterative gem 'liberal loser'.
Pull your heads out of your a$$es, people. Partisan bickering distracts you from rational thought and fact.

Exactly his point. They haven't been convicted even though the crime was committed. That is what is wrong with the system. They are putting up a handful of people as fatted cows and then letting them go so that they look like the millitary is being tough on rogue soldiers.

Is this story just another excuse for another anti-war movie failure at the box office?

... SAID IT BEFORE,PROBABLY ITERATE AD NAUSIUM over the horizon:armies and police are the extensions of jealous power everywhere.Let it be democratic, nazi, whatever;wars and policing bring out the best and worst, and rape and murder belong not only to the black hats.Idiots at the behest of 'wiser' souls...that's us...

How pathetic. Ignore this gasbag so that he will go away. I am so tired of him. Give him a loofa so he can "go nuts on your nether regions" and call it a day. Give him some of Rush's oxycontin so he can go night night. Have him go back to being a talking head reporting on celebrities and faux news stories on Inside Edition, OH WAIT! He already is a talking head reporting on celebrities and faux news.

Heck, this type of stuff happens about every day in our own country. But, of course, our country doesn't count to most politicians and their handlers, except when they can make money on it.

The director Depalma has already made another film, Casualties of War with pretty much the same theme. Namely the evil that American soldiers do.

I saw this movie on the weekend. It's worth checking out, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that "every American should see this film," as the author of this article did, because it's just not THAT good.
The main thing I took away from it is a different perspective of what a difficult job soldiers have over there.

Depalma should be kissing the feet of the men and woman in uniform that stand up everyday protecting the rights and security blanket that he sleeps under. What an ingrate. Along with these liberals that are just waiting for body counts to run in thier campaign. Well Democrat congress your speaker has been in for a year. Any change? NOOOOOOOO. DePalma using a few bad instinces to make a couple of bucks is all I see. Been to Iraq the in the first war. If he wants to make such a movie, give the sissy a gun let him live in the danger the troops go through every day. Defend the land that gives him his freedoms. Then make your movie. A traitor and a looser is what I see that doesn't even deserve the attention.

Sure there have been. the Republicons have become obstrutionist and the President has had to use his veto pen. He will continue to use it and the Republicon will keep obstructing......Hopefully the Congress can keep Bush and Cheney from F__king things up more than they already have.

oh, another - "since you didn't wear the uniform you don't count" opinion here huh?.....
Sir, thank you for your service. I've lost family members to wars....So don't sit on your high horse and tell me my opinion doesn't count.
Last time I looked I AM AN AMERICAN and I HAVE A VOICE.
