I don't know if I've seen 'From Dusk til Dawn' on many lists. Your list is great, old and new. Happy Halloweewn!

That is a good movie, tehranchick. :)

Robert Rodriguez' latest film, Planet Terror, is another super movie, perhaps more of an action horror film. Note that both feature super jelly-bag monsters!

I find DThompson's encyclopedic knowledge of horror films inherently disturbing. That stuff will rot your brain and make you vote republican.

It is pretty freaky. Has he seen, like, every horror film known to man or WHAT?

Lately it seems an addiction to Judy Garland musicals is what makes you vote Republican! :D

Is it a strip bar called The Ti**y Twister? I'm gonna have to pass on that one. But it would be cool to get Danny Trejo and Cheech Marin's autographs!

You're more than welcome, natashas! :)

Not too scary, eh? "The Changeling" is more relentlessly eerie than actively scary... I'd have to recommend either that one or "From Beyond", but, I've seen a lot of horror movies so what seems not very scary to me often seems a bit more frightening to others.

"Freaks"(1932) is a classic and really creepy. No one in this movie wore any special effects makeup.

I have only seen 10 (uncut, ALWAYS) of the 13...(I just got a disk of Nekromantik. Ick...) Still need to watch Feast, Slither, and Day of the Beast.

One thing about Spirits of the Dead-

The French version is much better for the first couple stories (Jane Fonda is actually speaking French) but for the "Toby Dammit" segment the English version is better since Terrence Stamp is actually speaking English.

My friend's parents caught her watching Nekromantik when she was young. They were so distressed over the contents of the film that they tried to get her to see a shrink just because of that.

Feast and Slither are still pretty new and Day Of The Beast is hard to find, like I said, if you're in America you're going to have to go VHS. However, that film is so good it's worth buying. Amazon.Com has multiple copies available for under $5, some as low as $0.99, which for this movie is well well worth it. Also, region 2 DVD's are available and there are ways to remove region coding... But I'm quite sure I wouldn't know how to do THAT.

Regarding "slither," the slimy slugs thing written up as David Cronenberg meets something or other -

Cronenberg did a much earlier film, "shivers" featuring sluglike creatures that were human venereal parasites - Crawled up yer doodle during the deed, and they secreted a substance that made the host both incredibly stupid and relentlessly horny. It ends with the hero being trapped, "night of the living dead" style, with the lurching, shuffling zombies coming towards him, but they aren't dead and they don't want to eat his brain, just have their way with him in every possible fashion.

Now THERE is an out of the mainstream horror classic!

I was really happy to finally get the uncut Cannibal Apocalypse (Cannibals in the Streets) so I can see John Saxon really biting those bikers... : )

It's sort of slow going, but I kind of like Deathdream-

"I heard you were killed in Viet Nam."

              "I was..."

I have also found these films to be quite instructional when fighting the horror of the Neocons here on Propeller.

One of my favorites was "THE CHANGLING" with George C Scott

"This is one of those horror movies that can be scary without being bloody and gory. It simply relies on atmosphere and frightening, but subtle images to deliver its chills, and it works. I will never be able to understand that "R" rating mainly because there is only very mild profanity and there is no blood or gore. Anyway, I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys a good scary ghost story."

Believe it or not, your truelly was a extra in a badly made horror movie made in the late 80s that went straight to video called Lone Wolf. Look at for a chubby skater punk with wild Cure like hair talking to cops, and there might be a part where my head actually gets knocked off...would be the first time.

They need to add the classic comedic horror flicks such as "The Evil Dead 1&2", and "Army of Darkness". Also, "I kill you I bury you I spit on your grave", "Dead Alive", and "Burial of the Rats".
