      I watched it this morning and it is amazing. Regardless anyone's opinion on MM, he brings up some very staggering points about our government that need to be brought to light. Instead of concentrating on the man, why don't the critics concentrate on the issue; Health Care in America.

        Actually, this stunt is OLD NEWS. In fact, a long time ago, the Daily Show's Samantha Bee interviewed Mike Wilson., who tried to pull the same stunt on Michael Moore. Here is the videoclip.

        I agree. It seems some of us Americans can get all bent out of shape when our country is exposed to criticism and would like to improve things. It seems some still believe we're #1 in all things...wrong! One of the few things we're still #1 is our military, but domestic areas such as education (we're ranked #20) we have ignored and will eventually pay for it. How can we insure our dominance if we ignore education...or in this case health care? MM is giving us a rude awakening and it behooves us to listen and do somthing about it. The Cuba thing shouldn't be taken that serious it is probably a hyperbile just to make a point and stir controversy.

        want to be honest .the only flaws is the existance of the insurance system and lawyers.everyone who dosent pay for it out of pocket thinks healthcare is free they dont know what they are charged.if everyone had to pay for it themselves the market would bring things back in line.on the lawyers they need toget a handle on the over excessive judgements.medicne is an art NOT a science.also if you cannot see that our semi-freemarket system is what produces the best medicens and treatments then you must ask who is not being honest

        If you have an enemy, it is better if you can see them,so that you know who, when, where and how to fight.
        If you cannot, then you become a very old and angry person, and that benefits no one.
        What you should be asking as a hard working American is:
        "After spending my life following the rules, what do I deserve, what do I need, and how can I get it"?

        Of course there are people who abuse the system; but the majority of people who are on public assistance are on it because they not only NEED IT, they DESERVE IT! I happen to be on social security disability due to severe, advanced degenerative joint disease affecting all my major joints. I have had both hips and knees replaced, and I am only 58 yrs old. I worked from age 17 until 2 yrs ago, when my pain and my mobility because too severe to do so. I live in an area that has people on every economic rung of the ladder, and I know some of them are working the "system." Yet, I don't regret paying into that system so that children born into poverty can get health care, food, a roof over their heads, shoes on their feet, clothes, education, and a chance to make it in life! I find your attitude selfish, cynical and narrow-minded. There are always people who will take advantage of any situation; that doesn't mean everyone else in need should suffer because of them.

        Cushi I love your post. Not only are you representative of your own claim that not everyone abuses the system,but stats support your arguement as well.(at least for Canada-and I am sure that the States are probably similar)In fact, there is a much higher proportion of people who cheat on their income taxes. As well, the " welfare mother" myth is usually touted by Right wing think tanks like the Fraser Institute here in Canada, even though the reality is that this group comprises a very small % of people on welfare. The majority are the working poor, the ones that live pay cheque to pay cheque, who are unfortunate enough to be downsized due to growing corporate outsourcing.

        What I see is that in the wealthiest nation in the world, 45 million Americans (including 9 million children) don't have health insurance. Do you dispute this?

        This is a free country, which means you are free to fail or succeed, not get a FREE ride. You want better health care, get a better job, if that means you need to further your education then do it.         Failure tto recognize and address the causes of poverty in America and Canada -eventually leads to more cost farther down the line, not to mention a poor quality of life and lost opportunities for those children who happen to be born into a poorer family.

No matter what anyone thinks or feels MM is doing wrong--the issues he shines the spotlight on are very important to the masses. Everyone knows it. Could he do it without so much manipulation? Probably.
I get upset at all the manipulations coming from MM as well. I chose to believe he wants to do good and is still for the average person on the street. No one else has the kahunas to do what he does.
I wonder how many others have tried to get interviews and been turned down---maybe if their PR people had contacted his PR people....he knows people are gunning for him---I'd probably hide too.

  Nobody can deny that the U.S. healthcare system is too expensive and too exclusive. However, Cubans that recently left Cuba and are here said in an article I read that they have a three tiered system there as well. Best care goes to high government officials, next those working in government positions, then the rest of them. However the good thing about their system is that it's heavy on preventative care.

        I am not asking about the guys credibility. Forget about MM. I am asking about the facts he lays out. See this movie. Then lets talk about the facts. If he is wrong, then hurray for the US.         I agree I don't get it. Who cares that the film was made by MM, or that there might be questionable facts( haven't seen the film) but isn't the whole point to encourage debate and to make people reflectand ask themselves if there is a better way to run things- whatever that may be.
        Personally -I don't care about MM- I neither like or dislike him. It seems that everyone who dislikes MM makes no mention of their opinions on the present day health care system.

    Well, one of your liberal brethren earlier today in another thread showed the World Health Organization rankings of health care systems. It had Cuba ranked lower than the U.S.
    You can bet Moore also skipped the part about Cuba locking up all it's AIDs-afflicted citizens and never letting them out into public ever again, either. You'd be far better off being afflicted with AIDs in the U.S. than in Cuba.

      They should have started locking them up from the first ones diagnosed; just think how many millions of people that action would have saved!!!

My feeling is that he is an easy target, and the "filmmakers" exploited him for their own self serving. I adore Michael - always have, always will. These film makers used him as a subject to get on the map. Is he sometime loose with the fact - probably - but it is the larger message that is important beyond that.
