I can't wait to check this flick out. It has been getting very favorable reviews, even from Fox News of all places.
Michael Moore just recently did his first interview in 2 years in regards to this movie with Bill Maher:

Sorry Ken--didn't mean to make you angry but through my eyes and ears MM is right on the money. Ya, he did do some major manipulation on 911---and I don't necessarily like to watch people being put on the spot----if that's what has to happen for the big picture to be shown, so be it. He's working it for you and me. He's one person making a difference.

Here's Fox News' review of it

Getting good health care, like so many other things, *shouldn't* be a partisan topic.

a-s,
You are one sick puppy!
Calling others fat does not make you less fat or more attractive. In fact, it shows a very ugly side of you that would repel just about everybody.
Bring something worthwhile to the discussion here. You are among some very intelligent and bright people here, If you want to be a boil on the butt, you have a lot of choices!

Yes Neo, Fox news even. Guess Fox has some cerdibility now in your eyes....when you agree with them?
In all seriousness. This is an issue that crosses party lines. Its not any parties fault. The only thing that is unfortunate is that Moore has such an ability to polarize his audience (based on the total crap and lies he has come out with before) that such an important message may fall on some deaf ears.
I just wish someone else would have taken on this subject other than Moore.
The only problem I have with the flick is the part where he takes a few people to Cuba to get healthcare, the assertion being that they are getting better public health care in Cuba than they could get in the USA. The dishonest part of it all (how could Moore not do a movie without stretching the truth to serve his ends at least ONCE) is that only the elite class in Cuba would be getting that health care. The average Cuban would never recieve such treatment, thus his assertion is extremely flawed.

I can hardly wait to see this movie in theaters. GW deserves to get the best health care this country has to offer. He should also have to pay for it the way most Americans do...with three months salary!

This is not a partisan issue, you only show your ignorance of the issue when you do that. Please dont make this about Bush you "everything is Bush's fault" liberals out there. The WORST thing you can do is to try to be partisan about this if you are really interested in change, that will only slow things down. Our health care was this way WAY before Bush came into office and has lasted through many administrations.....Democrat and Republican.
Interesting though that I still dont see one liberal here saying what I am saying. Some of you guys that I know aren't out on the "fringe" left should be slamming these types of comments and voting them down like the rest of us.
THIS IS NOT A PARTISAN ISSUE!!

lol, you mean the same guy that took advantage of the system by suing doctors for millions of dollars chasing ambulances?
I hate to tell you, but he WAS PART OF THE PROBLEM.
I dont know who....on EITHER SIDE....has the right ideas on this PARTICULAR issue, but its FOR SURE not him.

Wow. that makes less than no sense. Americans escorted into Cuba for the purposes of making an anti-US film are going to get treatment that far exceeds anything that most if not all Cubans get to experience.
Don't rely on this fairy tale for true information. Form your own judgements of the health care system and how it has changed over the past 30 years...unless it is more personally convenient for you to blame everything on GWB and treat everything that MM says as gospel.

Cubans do get excellent health care, and the doctors there, like in many countries, do house calls WITHOUT an ambulance call.

I meant to give you a negative. For it is you nutballs who are making a partisan issue out of it--as you do with everything. For you, politics is a sport--Republican vs. Democrat, conservative vs. liberal, right vs. left. Anything to "help" your team win.
Let me tell you something: this is NOT the America I know and love. I desperately want America to be returned to its Constitutional roots. If you haven't noticed; I have criticized your favorite whipping boy, Bill Clinton, for the damage HE did on that scale, and I do NOT support his wife's run for the presidency. So it is unfair to paint all liberals with the same broad brush. Most of us are, indeed, critical thinkers and we only want want we believe is best for our country.
What could be more patriotic?

I love MMs work! even if I don't agree 100% with him all the time, he does present everything in a very interesting way, and most importantly brings up serious issues.
So I know some idiots, on here are going to come on here and express their views on MMs physical appearance...here's what I'm going to say to you...'you must have thought about sleeping with Michael Moore, if your comments about his looks matter to you so much.'

I have great health care, I don't want some freakin' lib government officials to take that away and tell me I HAVE to take their hand outs. I would end up having much less coverage on everything than I now have, there would be so much red tape and paper work and a lot less good care than we have now. Good Dr's would leave in droves, they do NOT want to work for the government, they would be taking a huge pay cut and we wouldn't have as many young folks becomming Dr's to replace them. I do have some out of pocket expenses with my plan but it's a very small amount and I also have a good dental and eye-glass plan and many folks I know have similar plans, why would we want to give that up for your government "tax increase" plan? PS, I would rather snuggle up to my dogs than M.M.

Do even good doctors deserve to make so much? The best ones in other countries, even countries that doctors leave other countries to work in don't pay them HALF as much, but give them all the same equipment, and more choices of medicines.
About your name....
Maybe you should change it to something like PoodleDoneDid.

If you're wealthy and powerful, you could always buy the best insurance. If you're poor and disadvantaged, you can't afford it. The middle class is where about half have adequate to good coverage while the other half scrapes by with poor to adequate insurance. If you work for a good company that has a great health care plan for their employees that's great. But what happens when you lose that job and your insurance is tied in with that job? You will find that unless you find another job quickly your access to adequate health care dwindles. And this is good? Is this good for the welfare of our nation? Wouldn't we be a better nation if everyone could at least afford basic health care insurance?

my husband has been at his job since 1999 and guess what? Their health plan sucks at a cost of $350.00 a payday then, now it is $450.00. We did not get it of course. Being retired military we have Tricare throught the gov and it sucks, always has. Hilary's failed healthcare plan was to charge active duty military for medical coverage and to open base hospitals to All civilians. My sister lives in Scotland where she has their universal health care and guess what? she has to wait almost 2-3 months if not longer for an appointment with her general physician, longer if its for a specialist.

Strange, I live in Lithuania, also social health care, and if I need to see a doctor, I can definitely get in within two days (same day if it's an emergency), see a doctor who brings me to the specialist THAT DAY, and my work-paid health insurance (~$40 per month) covers all my treatment, even ones deemed "cosmetic" by US health plans, like wart removal.
Another expat I know, from London says the health care is fast, as well as excellent also.
Maybe it's just your sister? Does she smell, or is she really ugly?

navyrunt93:
According to the latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 46.6 million Americans who are uninsured, and that number has risen steadily each year.
Do you really believe that entire number is accounted for by illegal immigrants and those "on welfare who refuse to go get a job"?

Yeah, considering that the Bush Administration Department of Labor claims that the unemplyment rate is aro9nd 4.5%. That value, BTW, is not a percentage of the total population, it's of the workforce population of about 150 million jobholders, according to the BLS.
Here's a cursory analysis:
That means that around 7 million people are unemployed according to the Administration's political standards. If you add the 12 million illegals who don't have medical insurance (that's an assumption, a few might have it) that's still around 20 million people, leaving around 27 million US citizens without medical insurance.
The implications of that should be clear, both socially and economically.

Fox news probably sponsored the movie because the rich cannot bear to think their coverage paid for by the poor is inadequate.
I guess the best coverage in the world will not save you from an understaffed, uncaring er.
Reagan began the ruination of the healthcare system. The wepucks answer to everything is to cut services to the poor. With time more cuts and services and increased costs.
Where will the Drs go if they leave here? Most have already fled their specialties and moved to plastic surgery or out of medicine.
We need socialized dental also.

Michael Moore is a left wing Shill of the highest order.
His work, sensationalized documentary crap more akin to fiction than anything else.
This guy is a fat, greasy, unshaven stubble bum unworthy of any real discussion or debate.
His game is to try and feed a conspiracy disease and laugh all the way to the bank on created controversy.

Despite your ad hominem logical fallacies, these issues are going to be here whether we all like them or not.
America has got some real great stuff in it, but it has very real problems too - and our healthcare system is absolutely one of them.

I don't like using the word HERO, but in Michael's case I will because he does a great job in exposing the greed and power of big Govt and big business. Plus he's very entertaining to watch and listen to, surprisingly articulate and funny.
Sock it to them Mike!!!!
Can't wait to see the film too.

A good start to changing the healthcare system in the US is to go after the insurance companies. Start with rounding up the CEO's and have a lynching party. That may get someone's attention.

Saw Michael Moore on the Bill Mahre Show. He told Bill that when he made his film about the auto industry and was vilified, he was eventually found to have been right about the woes of that industry. When he filmed Columbine, he was also criticized by the gun industry but we still have school massacres because of the easy access to guns. And when he filmed Fahrenhit 911 he was roundedly denouced and look at the mess we have now. With Sicko, he's been receiving more favorable press than any of his other films and even Faux News has given it a good review.
Maybe Murdock's planning to get in on the health care scam like insurance and pharmacuetical companies?

SICKO??? it's not MM's autoboighraphy???
fact is, we have the best healthcare in the world,
ya get what ya pay for.
the US has Canadiens coming down for treatment, in spite of nationalized care in Canada.
the US doesn't have national health care 'cause it don't work.
and don"t even get me started about CUBA, all the good cuban docs live in MIAMI.
just another little propaganda piece by an anti-american scumbag.

I have a solution to the Health Care "Crisis"!!!
I propose a special tax on liberals in general, and Michael Moore's films specifically, with the proceeds being donated to provide health insurance for the poor people Moore cares so much about.
It would be nice if everyone had health insurance. But it would be nicer if those who whined about those who don't did something about it besides tearing down America.

Tearing down America? The reason they have such a poor health care system and the reason a lot of other things suck here is because they sold out to big business.
The rights solution to the problem is always everyone buy their own. Well it is just unaffordable! The $20,000 -$50,000 a year employ can not afford to.
From a business viewpoint-the ones not contributing to the system are getting free and lots of people who can afford to buy their own are getting free. The ones providing the free service for everyone will soon die off and then where will the poor and the rich be?

"Tearing down America?"
That's right. Tearing down America. Whining about a problem while doing absolutely nothing constructive to solve it except pointing out how it's other people's faults. The blame game - the only thing libs are good at.
"The reason they have such a poor health care system and the reason a lot of other things suck here is because they sold out to big business."
So let's destroy all big business, put a heck of a lot of people out of work and then all the problems will be solved, right?
Good luck with that.

Guess I'll have to watch at least one film by MM. Though I feel we have good medical resources and able doctors and staff, it costs too much for many to be part of. This makes many go the 'free' way, thus raising the price for all that do pay into the system. I'd have no problem with it being Universal if I had any confidence in congress not to 'steal' from the fund or let lobbyists get involved.

This is another situation where it is abundantly clear that we should go to the 'fair' tax system of taxing consumption instead of income. No loop holes for those of wealth or corporations. No one has to HIDE what they make and all goods are taxed just one time when originally purchased. If you buy anything used, you won't be re-taxed on the item. We won't have taxes passed along on items that have 3-10 companies handle it before it arrives for us to purchase. You will get your GROSS income and for the most part prices for goods will be less or about the same. If you save money or make a profit on the sale of a house you will only have profits without taxation. The underground economy will finally contribute to the tax system and the national coffers will swell and we can get back in black as a nation and afford the medical things all deserve.

I lived in Canada for a few years when my husband got a contract for work, with benefits. It was wonderful! As luck would have it I had to have gall bladder surgery and it didn't cost us anything out of pocket. The quality of care was fantastic. This cost only 16.00 every two weeks from my husbands paycheck. There is something very wrong with this country and there is no dening it, the facts and figures don't lie. Can we blame any one president - no, but Bush was added to the problem.
