I hope something besides Little Miss Sunshine gets Best Picture. It was alright, but it sure wasn't the masterpiece some critics made it out to be.

Oscar should be ashamed that Little Miss Sunshine is a nominee for Best Pic while United 93 is not.

I hope Paul Greengrass takes home the director's award and United 93 at least gets some recognition as being one of the best films of the year.

Way to many self-congratulatory awards in Hollywood. Tiresome.

I just saw Babel and am in disbelief. A more contrived, transparent and preachy movie doesn't exsist. You're supposed to make all these "connections" at the end but by then I was beating my head against the wall. What it was really about is people not thinking at all and making really dumb decisions. People that do stupid things reap the consequences don't try to trace it back to something unrealated to say "aha! If you hadn't done this then he wouldn't have done that ... blah, blah, blah.

I'm just sick that people are falling for it and praising this c**p.

Borat. And that's my final answer. I know this is a ridiculous choice, but how about some weird new blood for a change. Go Ellen!

Little Miss Sunshine was brilliant. A charming script with depth, personality, extremes of emotion and a hilariously irreverent climax. No need for gimmicky marketing or giant CG explosions. Movies like this should be encouraged as much as possible.

I completely agree. Little Miss Sunshine was good. The reason a lot of people don't like movies like it is because I think they may not understand. An example was that my parents saw Sideways a couple years ago. I told them it was a comedy and they went and didn't think it was funny. I saw it and I thought it was funny. Granted it's not like a Caddyshack or 40-year-old Virgin, which are just straight out comedies. Movies like Little Miss Sunshine are suppose to show the comedy in everyday life, and even though life sucks sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh about it.

They actually found movies they could nominate for an oscar?

I do not understand with all of the money-why they cannot come up with a decant movie.

Maybe all will show up in designer gowns and shaved heads this year.

Just as the recent "sweep" by the Dixie Chicks, this will be a political statement. Al Gore will win in every catagory and in these newly created catagories.

I really enjoyed Sunshine but I wouldn't oscar it. Babel was very powerful. Haven't seen the others---but everyone here thinks The Queen will get the prize.

Nobody has mention The Departed? I think that or Babel should get the Oscar they both were great. Babel showed how things can just spiral out of control and Leonardo Dicaprio was amzing in The Departed. Both great movies, one of them should win

Will anyone care to explain why Little Miss Sunshine isn't oscar worthy? ....Since your opinions are so valid and all.

Little Miss Sunshine isn't worth it when there are so many better potential nominees. Although Arkin might have a shot.

Little Miss Sunshine i agree was good! but.... i think it may be a little tooo sundance film festival for the oscars! i am not saying i didnt like it but i also have to agree that there are better options out there for more deserving pics. and directors! yes the script was funny and cute and all about the reality of families and how screwed up they are but lets just leave it at that!
