Nov. 30, 2006, 8:25 a.m.You've got to agree with that... who wants to pay good money for a ticket just to hear someone yapping over the dialogue?
They'll just have to "disconnect" for a few hours.

Nov. 30, 2006, 11:26 a.m.I really like this idea, great to see Regal stepping up.
They seem to blame teens in the article, but I've witnessed inconsiderate morons of all ages yapping away in the theater.
Now if they can only do away with that block of commercials called "the twenty", I'd be even happier.

Nov. 30, 2006, 1:22 p.m.I can see this getting abused by the teens which some what defeats the purpose of having it in there.

Nov. 30, 2006, 1:42 p.m.They're handing out the device to frequent customers, thus mitigating any abuse.

Nov. 30, 2006, 1:52 p.m.Cool! Too bad there isn't a button to make those cell phone yapping jerks pee in their pants! I'd pay double the admission price for that.

Nov. 30, 2006, 2:08 p.m.That's my pet peeve, those commercials. Just as on TV, they even turn up the volume, as compared to the feature, even though they deny it when asked. My meters say they do turn the ads up. Now if you went in the theater for free, then the ads may be justified, but paying $9.50 to see ads? BTW, some DVD's also force you to sit thru the ads and warnings, though you can mute your own sound at home. Bad. I agree that moviegoers have gotten much more rude.

Nov. 30, 2006, 6:20 p.m.Look I have been a projectionist for 5 years. The '20' as you call it, keeps costs down. Companies pay good money for the privelage. If you had to pay $20 a ticket and saw no commercials and heard no lobby music, would this be acceptable? BTW the volume is NOT turned up for the commercials. They are recorded at a higher volume. Like when you are watching tv; PBS is at a low volume, MTV is broadcast at a higher volume.Movie theatres only make money on the concessions.the take from the box office is less than 5%.Opening weekend it's around 3%.The ads keep revenue up and costs down.No ads means $20 tickets and $15 popcorn, seriously. The cellphone issue is the most annoying for me.I get a complaint, go into the theatre and ask the patron to turn it off or leave the theatre.then I stand there and wait for one of those 2 things to happen. If they are black,I get called a racist. If they are immature teens, I usually have to call the police to have them removed because of their belligerance.

Nov. 30, 2006, 4:51 p.m.Great idea, there's nothing worse than sharing the same room/road with such an inconsiderate person.

Nov. 30, 2006, 5:03 p.m.Rudeness seems to be an American trait in the movies. Why people can be so inconsiderate and interfere with someone else's enjoyment is beyond me. If you want to chat during the movie get your a..s..s up and go into the lobby. For those clueless buffons who talk on their cellphones, they should be kicked out of the theater.

Nov. 30, 2006, 5:40 p.m.Go to a movie in the caribbean sometime. Sometimes there is more dialog between the audince and the screen than there is between the actors.

Nov. 30, 2006, 5:18 p.m.What a sweet, sweet gift. I would go a step further and just put a cell phone signal blocker over the entire complex, but that's just me.
People are horrible at movies, which is why I try to only go to matinées when only old people are there.
This brings up a whole assortment of things that people need to stop doing at theaters. Which if I were to go into, I'd be typing all night.
Needless to say I love this idea. I think it's a step in the right direction. But, like I said I'd just block all cell phone signals, which they can do because they've done it at my school in the new buildings.

Nov. 30, 2006, 9:08 p.m.I would welcome this! I have actually been stuck behind someone who talked OUT LOUD on their cell phone throughout the ENTIRE movie! Why anyone would pay good money to go to a dark room and talk over the noise of a movie on their phone I do not know-but it happens.

Nov. 30, 2006, 11:09 p.m.now if only they come up with a button to shut up crying babies in theaters. your baby doesn't want to go to a movie theater. it doesn't even know where it is.
besides, most larger theaters offer special screenings for parents of young children that they can bring the li'l waterhead youngin' to.
remember, your baby may be the center of your world, but it certainly isn't the center of mine.

Nov. 30, 2006, 11:51 p.m.I will show the article to the local theater manager with a request they take some kind of similar action.
Rude people seem to be getting worse since they think they have the right of free speech.
It seems that too few people have respect for themselves let alone respect for anyone else.
