Nov. 26, 2006, 2:12 p.m.Is it just me or can anyone else here NOT see Connery playing Gandalf? Don't get me wrong, I love him as an actor, but I think McKlellan fit the part perfectly. Tall, thin, kind of weathered from the years, and he seemed to understand the role of the character. IMO, connery made the choice when he passed on the part.

Nov. 26, 2006, 7:59 p.m.All actors make choices about parts all the time. Some they later regret, some not.
IMHO though, it would have been hard to improve on McKellen's Gandalf.

Nov. 27, 2006, 4:16 a.m.Yeah - really who cares how much richer a rich man could have made. Like I give a crap if someone steals Travota's friggin plane, parked on his lawn and polluting the air! Cry me a river. I've got real problems, thank you.

Nov. 27, 2006, 4:23 a.m.I likewise can't imagine Connery in "Lord of the Rings". He was right to turn the part down. McKellen worked out great.

Dec. 11, 2006, 2:08 p.m.I agree Christopher Lee and Ian McKellan were perfectly cast. I'm sure that there's a role for him out there, othere than 007, that he could make his own. Oh, he did already, Indiana Jones's dad
