Who is Bukowski? He was an angry drunk who loved to fight, almost as much as he loved writing. He reveled in the life of bum, and was able to share the experience with his readers. His poetry touches the rebel most of us hide within. His cynicism compels us to check out our values. He had an abusive father and he himself was at once kind and like his father abusive with a pronounced mean streak. In short, from what I can tell from reading the thinly disguised biographical material in his works he was a tortured soul.

I am a huge Bukowski fan, and I especially loved Factotem since I could relate to his horrible work experiences. It's an excellent book just like Barfly, but the movie Barfly wasn't nearly as good as the book. I am waiting to see a movie that really turns me on. It has been a while since I thought Hollywood has made any great films or even the indie films are not as good as they once were. Is it me or does anyone else agree? I am looking forward mostly to the the Black Dahlia movie since I love James Elroy as well as Bukowski, and the Elizabeth Short story is a sick but fascinating true story.

I will be seeing Factotem and I hope that it is better than Barfly!

Katz9j. I Agree. Nothing has been edgy or interesting enough for a while - if that's partly what you mean. I read something about this a few weeks ago. Can't wait. Also, Dillon seems to be picking up his career again. Maybe with age and an acting hiatus, he'll prove to be a great choice for the role.

My biggest problem with Dillon playing Bukowski is that since when was Bukowski ever a good looking drunk? He was a mess and it's hard for me to see my teenage heart throb play such a grimey roll. I think the narrator of this trailer is an idiot, as well. Sorry that CRASH turned out to be an excellent movie, as matter of fact that was one of the last movies that I really loved. Dillon played a very convincing LAPD pig, oink, oink. He was so convincing. He had me squirming in my seat when he took advantage of Thandie Newton, while her husband looked on.

            Sorry I'm so sarcastic!!

katz...sarcasm, no problem. It makes the world go round.

Yeah, Dillon is a pretty, pretty man but I'll bet he can carry it off. Whomever cast him wants to appeal to wider audience. I'll take my chances though. At the very least we'll get to look at him for a few hours...
